Billy Idol Painting

Happy Birfday Billy Idol! I just happened to paint this the other day as I am thinking about doing an early days of MTV Heroes series. I have been painting in a more pop art style again since I last posted on here. If you want to keep up with the day to day with what I’m doing I would suggest following my instagram @thayerfineart . In any case I don’t paint many dudes but I’m happy with how Billy turned out, I hope you dig it!

All is Light, tribute to Paris painting

There are many things that art can do for the artist and the viewer. Art can make us think, remember, imagine and visualize a reality that appears different than our own. I was shaken by the attacks on Paris in particular not only because I personally know people who experienced that madness first hand but because Paris is a hub for artistic expression and attacking it felt very much to me like attacking the idea of freedom of expression. As this is basically the most important thing to me I realize even more that those who see no value in creativity were more than likely deprived of any idea of personal value. So instead of editorializing and flying off the handle about whats wrong with the world and what can be done to change this or that I would ask one thing. Make some art, you’ll feel better. It helps me. It can help you too. Peace and Love
